Terms of Use — Romaji Online
1. The agreement and how it changes
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and romajionline.date for your use of Romaji Online (the “App” or “Service”).
By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will provide reasonable notice in the App where practical. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms where permitted by law.
2. Who may use the Service
You must be at least 13 years old (or the higher minimum age required in your country). If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with a parent or guardian’s consent where required.
3. Your licence
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App for personal, non-commercial learning, subject to these Terms and the applicable app store rules.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the App except to the extent mandatory law allows.
4. Your account
Some features may work without an account; others may require registration or sign-in through Apple, Google, or methods we support. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly of unauthorized use.
To delete an account or associated data, use any in-app deletion path if available, or email support@romajionline.date. Uninstalling alone may not delete server-side account records if you created an account.
5. Your content
If the Service allows you to submit content (for example notes or feedback), you grant us a licence to use, store, and display that content only as needed to operate and improve the Service. You represent that you have the rights to submit it and that it does not violate these Terms or others’ rights.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service. For example, you must not:
- Violate applicable laws or third-party rights;
- Probe, disrupt, or circumvent security;
- Reverse engineer the App except where the law permits;
- Use bots or scrapers in a way that harms or overloads the Service;
- Upload malware, spam, or deceptive material;
- Extract our curated learning content at scale to build a competing product without permission.
We may suspend or terminate access for violations or risk to the Service or other users.
7. Our intellectual property
The Service, including software, branding, design, and curated lesson content, is owned by romajionline.date or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you.
8. Purchases, subscriptions and refunds
If you purchase Premium, payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation. The app store is the seller of record for store transactions.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn off auto-renew according to store instructions before the renewal date;
- Manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings;
- Any unused portion of a free trial may be forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where allowed by the platform.
Refunds follow Apple or Google Play policies and applicable consumer law. We do not state an absolute “no refunds” rule. Contact the store first for billing issues, and email support@romajionline.date if you need help identifying your order.
Free tiers may include usage limits; Premium features are defined in the App at the time of purchase.
9. If you are a consumer in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland
Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights that cannot be waived under the laws of your country of residence. Withdrawal rights for digital content apply only under the conditions set by local law.
10. Advertising
Free tiers may display third-party advertisements. Ad partners may collect device and advertising data as described in our Privacy Policy. Where required, we ask for consent before personalized ads.
11. Third-party services
The Service may link to or integrate third-party services (including app stores and sign-in providers). Their terms and privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
12. Availability, updates and ending the agreement
We may update, change, or discontinue features. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. You may stop using the Service at any time.
We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Survivable sections (IP, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, governing law) remain in effect.
13. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Learning outcomes vary. Romaji Online is an educational aid and does not guarantee fluency, exam results, or professional language certification.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, romajionline.date will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.
Our total aggregate liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) amounts you paid us via the app stores in the 12 months before the claim or (b) USD 50, except where mandatory law prohibits such a limit.
15. Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify romajionline.date against claims arising from your misuse of the Service, your content, or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that if you are a consumer, mandatory protections of the country where you live continue to apply.
Courts in Vietnam have jurisdiction for disputes, unless mandatory law gives you the right to bring claims in your home country.
17. Copyright complaints
If you believe content in the Service infringes your copyright, email support@romajionline.date with identification of the work, the material at issue, your contact information, and a good-faith statement. We may remove or disable allegedly infringing material as appropriate.
18. App stores
If you downloaded the App from Apple App Store or Google Play, you also agree to that store’s terms. The store may be a third-party beneficiary regarding the App licence. The store is not responsible for providing maintenance or support for the App unless required by its own terms.
19. General
These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent.
